The children leing home to live by themselves weaken the function of traditional elderly support and there is limitation for elders to support themselves. It has practical significance to research the endowment system that direct at the empty nest families, study the indifferent mode on the interior environment of elder apartment in community with urban welfare insurance and solve the endowment problem of empty nest families in urban.For the endowment traits of empty nest families in urban, the papers bring up the indifference mode on interior environment of elder apartment in community with urban welfare insurance, study and illustrate the necessary and feasible methods. Followings are the conclusions that are got. First, the government provides the elder apartments with welfare insurance for the elderly to solve the residential problem and to help the one child families that don’t he enough capacity to support the elderly. Second, It should be truly "people-oriented", not only concern about the health of the elderly, but also the spiritual comfort, making the empty nest elderly can take care of each other at the composed family, creating the communication space for the elderly and their relatives or friends. Third, the concept of universal design makes the elderly in the barrier free environment to act self-care and also to oid being low evaluated. Fourth, the economical design and implementation standards should interface with the community health care and service facilities of life in order to ensure the convenience and safety of the elderly. Fifth, the growth elasticity of composite space and the potential design create the potential adaptability for the flexible use of space and equipments. Sixth, indifferent standard space could be convenient to construct and manage for the government, be equal to the occupants, lower the economic costs and improve the efficiency in practice.The papers put forward some new proposals in the design of elderly living environment for the empty nest families in the urban, hoping to provide some reference for the further research and practice on the housing problem of the elderly.
